Singer’s Performance Goes Flat VIRGINIA BEACH A self-proclaimed singer gave a flat performance on an insurance claim after he allegedly swallowed a twist tie and injured his throat while dining at a Virginia Beach restaurant. Ironically, the man had made two previous claims with similar circumstances. The singer submitted a contract for performances he allegedly missed as a result of his injuries. Special Agents with the Virginia State Police Insurance Fraud Division, Chesapeake Field Office, determined that not only was the contract fabricated, but also that the man had called his insurance company pretending to be the singer’s manager in an attempt to expedite the settlement. Agents arrested the man on August 4, 2003, for Attempting to Obtain Money by False Pretenses and he was subsequently held in jail with no bond after also giving a poor performance to the magistrate.
